BALLA KOUYATÉ of Kita, Mali, West Africa.
From Kita, the cultural capital of Mali, Balla Kouyate is recognized by many of his peers as the pre-eminent balafon player of his generation. He is directly descended from the 13th c. artist, Balla Fesseke Kouyate, father of the Mandinka balafon which was given to Balla's ancestors by nobles in the 13th century and has remained in his family ever since. Balla Kouyaté has worked with many global artists over the years. Most recently, he recorded with Angelique Kidjo on her new album 'Oyo'
Jay Medina will be mastering a live mix of moving images for you.
